Marco Volgare grew up in a musicians’ family in the north of Italy. He won a scholarship and graduated with merit at the prestigious Academy “Accademia del Suono” in Milan, where he studied under Maxx Furian, one of Europe’s most highly regarded drummers. He also took part in a full time course by the Berklee College of Music under the guidance of Ron Savage. His curiosity concerning body posture and movements led him to attend Feldenkrais Method lessons and workshops which enriched his knowledge of those topics and improved the quality of his playing as well as his teaching.
Marco has performed professionally in hundreds of concerts in the main stages of Italy and Switzerland. He has played with: Alberto Camerini, a popstar who in the 80’s sold millions of records; Nic Polimeno with whom he recorded a single and performed in TV programs; Eugenio Finardi, one of the most successful Italian artists.
He’s taught to hundreds of students of all ages in many different schools since 2009. In 2014 he moved to Sydney and he soon started playing concerts with accomplished players around Australia and New Zealand. Currently he’s teaching at All Age Music School and in several primary schools: Orange Grove Public, Bondi Public, Nicholson Street Public and Saint Philip Neri School.
During his music journey he attended lessons and clinics with some world-class musicians such as Dave Weckl, Omar Hakim, Steve Smith, Jojo Mayer, Bob Moses, Benny Greb, Bobby Watson, Chris Coleman, Dave Elitch, Virgil Donati, Brian Frasier Moore, Dee Alexander and Allan Harris. His teaching method aims to associate music and drumming with a fun and rewarding experience and at the same time develop the skills required to be a drummer.
